Hello John,

Thank you for the rapid response. I am running Ubuntu Linux 12.04 LTS.
Ideally I would like the "Main" window minimized and the "OpenGL Display"
in a specific location on the screen. If I position and resize a
gnome-terminal window in the exact location of interest I am pull info on
its position and size:

[ ~ ] LAPTOP $ xwininfo -id $(xprop -root | awk
'/_NET_ACTIVE_WINDOW\(WINDOW\)/{print $NF}')

xwininfo: Window id: 0x425f2df "test"

  Absolute upper-left X: 716
  Absolute upper-left Y: 52
  Relative upper-left X: 0
  Relative upper-left Y: 0
  Width: 650
  Height: 716
  Depth: 32
  Visual: 0x60
  Visual Class: TrueColor
  Border width: 0
  Class: InputOutput
  Colormap: 0x4200005 (not installed)
  Bit Gravity State: NorthWestGravity
  Window Gravity State: NorthWestGravity
  Backing Store State: NotUseful
  Save Under State: no
  Map State: IsViewable
  Override Redirect State: no

Best,
Eric
