Lothar,
  I think that you're probably experiencing difficulty with the
'psfgen' plugin which has historically been troubled on IRIX.
In order to test my theory, do this:
  package require psfgen
  resetpsf

If that causes the coredump, then psfgen is the culprit, and you'll
likely have to do the structure building on a different (non-IRIX) machine.
