Eugen,
  I have code that talks to SpaceOrb 360, but the devices haven't
been manufactured for something like 6 years now. I have one at home.
They are very similar to the Spaceball, but they intended to be handheld
rather than sitting on a desk. I don't remember if I ever ported the
SpaceOrb 360 code to VRPN. I'm the one that wrote the Spaceball code
for VRPN, it's just a port of the standalone code I wrote some years back.
