I'm actually stepping through this code in the debugger right now.
I'm sure the authors had a reason, but messing with the integrity of
the data in the file like this is not very nice without an explicit
reason that is clear to an end user. That said, I'm just going to rip
the padding out of the plugin code and rebuild it.
