For examples of how to render a movie that does whatever you want, have a
look at the VMD movie plugin (
https://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/vmd/plugins/vmdmovie/); if you have needs
beyond what it can do automatically, its source code provides examples for
how to render images properly to piece together a movie.
