Vlad,
  Try compiling against Tcl/Tk 8.5.x and see if the problem goes away,
it wouldn't surprise me if that was related to the issue. The other version
numbers you listed (e.g., for CUDA, compilers, video drivers) shouldn't
have any impact on the behavior of the Tk-based plugin GUIs, so I would
focus on the Tcl/Tk version you're using and its interaction with the
X server and libraries that are packaged with OpenSUSE.
