Hi,
  Most likely your system updated the video driver during an automatic
system update, and the update broke OpenGL, which then causes problems for
VMD. I believe you should be able to fix this by reinstalling/fixing your
graphics drivers and/or OpenGL. You can test this by running the
"glxgears" demo that comes with most linux distributions. If you can't
run glxgears, then you won't be able to run VMD either.
