You could try converting the BMP using other tools. Irfanview
(http://www.irfanview.com/) or XNView
(http://pagesperso-orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enhome.html) have no problem
opening VMD-genrated BMP snapshots on my Vista laptop. And they're free!
