hi John,

I tried exporting obj. format using a program called Sketchup (from google).
I can open it with no problems with Blender and MAX/MSP/JITTER. The latest
one, MMJ, actually is the software that I intend to use VMD with. with this
software I can handle the obj. file and change its properties in real time
(which is the main issue for me). As an artist/architect I work on
developing "unusual" interfaces, using gestures, sound, voice, etc to
command images and simulations. Now I am in a project with the university of
sao carlos (I am Brazilian) and we intend to manipulate the models from VMD
(for educational purposes). In the first moment, the idea is just manipulate
the views from a model. Later on, we intend to really change the VMD model
on the flow (I saw that NAMD could be a option for these purposes?).
Anyways, now for me would be important to grasp the model: I have a patch
that I made where you can navigate thru a object using the wiimote (the
remote control from NINTENDO) and I would like to use it to navigate thru
the VMD model.
back to the issue: do you have tried exporting a obj. file from VMD and then
open it in another modelling software? if so, could you point the software
to me. I would like to try it out.

thanks a lot for your attention,
greetings,

sandro
