Dear Tommy,
  In addition to Todd's comments about possible Tcl issues, I'd just
mention that we haven't actually tried Redhat 7.3 here yet, so its
very possible that they've got C++ compiler issues we haven't run into
yet, as past Redhat releases have had on some occasions. Are you able to
run the binary distribution of VMD on your system? If not, that is good to
know as well, as we would want to make changes so that the same binaries could
hopefully run on multiple revs of Redhat 7.x if they don't work already.
