Wayland can be disabled in most FC27 setups be creating a custom.conf file in /etc/gdm/
However, laptops with the optimus (dual graphics cards) are painfully stuck in the middle.

Subject: Re: vmd-l: VMD Segfault Fedora 27

Hello iamcool777able.

I am short of providing a solution but I would like to mention that Fedora 27 ships with XWayland. The last release with X11 was Fedora 25.

XWayland was adopted and X11 abandoned due to its many security vulnerabilities.

I haven't tried VMD on any distribution with XWayland but the time may have arrived.
