Hi,
  Any of the x86 MacOS X versions should be workable on your machine.
There are some issues with the Tcl/Tk GUI toolkit's use of
the native Mac file browser that require an environment variable to be
set so that VMD uses a different file browser that is not affected by
the issue I mention. If you're having a specific problem with launching
VMD, let us know. Be aware that you will need to drag the VMD.app
out of the disk image and onto a local folder before MacOS will allow
you to run VMD since VMD wants to use the MacOS X Terminal.app for console
output.
