Hi,
Most movie formats have a fixed frame rate, usually 24, 25, or 30 frames
per second. Some formats offer one or two more frame rates, but those
are the ones that are most typical. When you make a movie with the VMD
movie maker plugin, you can change the movie compression settings and select
one of the frame rates supported by the movie format you are using. Beyond
these frame rates, your best option is to change the number of frames used
in the case of a rotation movie, or to load more or fewer trajectory
frames, in the case of a trajectory movie. If you have no more trajectory
frames available for loading, e.g. you loaded the trajectory into VMD
without skipping any frames, then the only option for making a trajectory
play slower is to duplicate the frames. One last option, if you have a
movie compression tool that offers a wider range of options than the ones
that VMD knows how to call automatically, is to have VMD only generate the
image files for the movie, but to do the movie compression itself in an
external tool. You can do this by unchecking the "delete image files"
item under "Movie Settings". When unchecked, VMD won't delete the
image files after they have all been rendered, so you can use any program
you want to compress your movie.

Cheers,
