Mike,
  This is actually quite tricky on OSX, as VMD works differently
on OSX than it does on Unix or Windows. I've working on changes to the
next version of VMD (1.8.2) which should make it much easier to
use with browsers etc, once finished. Are you using VMD 1.8.1 on
your OSX box? The specific instructions vary depending on whether
you're using 1.8, or 1.8.1, and 1.8.2 will be different yet due to the
changes I'm working on.
