Good news for Mac users:
After yesterday's update to MacOSX 10.5.2 and the subsequent Leopard
Graphics Update, VMD on my first-generation MacBook Pro 2 GHz Core Duo
with ATI Radeon X1600 is between 17% and 33% faster than under MacOSX
10.4.6 (or MacOSX 10.5.1 for that matter). What's more, GLSL rendering
now works, albeit at very low frame rates.
On my dual 1.8 GHz G5 PowerMac the changes are less spectacular,
around 5%.

Seems like Apple has done some good work on its drivers for recent
graphics cards and on its OpenGL subsystem.

Note that the Leopard Graphics Update only becomes available once you
have upgraded to 10.5.2. I.e. you have to run Software Update twice.
Plus, the 10.5.2 update might require two reboots for a total of three
reboots until you're done.
