Abstract

The talk is going to address different techniques to achieve strong scaling on Bluegene/L machine. These include overlap of computation and communication, strategies to optimize and scale communication overhead, impact of grain size in application scaling and load balancing. The talk will present the object oriented, virtualization driven Charm++ runtime and its performance on Bluegene/L. A case study with the molecular dynamics application NAMD will demonstrate the effectiveness of these techniques. The talk will also present some real problems that were run with the optimized NAMD.
