I'll add to John's comments:
No additional installs are necessary, and VMD works fine for me before
and after updating the
firmware and OS on my MacBook Pro.
VMD should start up OK whether you use the default bash shell or tcsh.
For the former you
need to look at .bashrc and .profile instead of .cshrc in John's answer.
Once you have the kinks worked out you'll find that VMD is (nearly) as
fast as on a G5 based
desktop Mac, and John hasn't even started to optimize the Intel Mac
build yet.
This is a great little computer and has a bright future.
