Nikolai,
I would expect all of the high-end versions of the Kepler and Maxwell
NVIDIA GPUs would likely be workable, and I would similarly expect that
recent high-end AMD/ATI cards would work, although I haven't actually tested
any yet. I don't know what the maximum display resolutions are for Intel's
integrated graphics, but I expect that integrated GPUs would not have
sufficient graphics performance to be usable on high resolution displays like
these even if they could theoretically support the display resolution for
easier things like playing movies. I would say that in order to drive a
4K display well, one would want to obtain one of the latest GPUs in the
~$250 to $500 price range, with the GTX 980 being one such example. You
can go for higher-end cards like Quadro cards to get much more GPU memory,
but that would be for reasons other than just due to the 4K display
resolution, e.g. for rendering large/complex VMD scenes using the
interactive GPU ray tracing engine, etc. If you've got the budget for
a 4K TV, it would not make much sense to skimp on the GPU to drive it
so I wouldn't go for a low-end GPU in any case.

Cheers,
  John Stone
