No, no it was nothing of that kind, I just had to manually run the
uninstall in add/remove programs. But the installer could (probably)
uninstall the previous version automatically. It's just a very very minor
annoyance.

Have you tried just extracting your msi installer using 7zip? In VMD's case
it at least gives you the binaries...
