Hi,
  VMD should install fine on Windows XP, so unless you've encountered
some sort of problem already that you didn't mention below,
just download the VMD installer package, run it, and you'll be presented
with a standard InstallShield software installation menu which will do
the rest of the steps for you. For NAMD, I believe there's no "install"
per se, and you just need to download the NAMD Windows executable.
Both programs are available from the web site of course:
