Raymond,
  Given the complexity of the VRML file format and the fact you guys
don't have a parser that'll handle the full spec, maybe we should look
at using one of the other formats for your CAVE use? What other file formats
can your software read? I've used VMD's VRML output in several programs,
so I know it's legal VRML2. Is the software you're using home-grown stuff
or is it some commercial CAVE-based VRML model viewer?
