Hi,
  At present there's not a method for altering the color scale
data range for the VolumeSlice representation, but I plan to
update this code to use the same controls that the other representations
use so that this can be done. Regarding drawing non-axis-aligned
slice planes, this too is something I plan to implement, but I'm
afraid that my deadlines will prevent me from getting that done
for VMD 1.8.3, that'll probably have to wait until a subsequent
version, unless I can add a volume texturing mode for the "draw"
commands, in which case you could draw arbitrary geometry and color
by Volume, which might be a good short-term compromise.
