Hi,
  I think the issue you're having isn't with installing
the Dowser plugin per se, but rather that you haven't set an
environment variable that tells it where the Dowser program
executable is. From your email it's not clear whether you
have installed Dowser itself, and that is a necessary precondition
before you try and run the Dowser plugin within VMD.
Do you have Dowser itself installed yet? Will it run by itself,
outside of VMD with any example scripts that came with it?
