how should we know? does it happen to _any_ pdb file or
only a specific one? try the example pdb files that are
bundled with VMD or the VMD/NAMD tutorials. they should
work. follow the advice from the VMD homepage on how to
report bugs and run VMD under control of a debugger, so
you can provide us with a stack trace to locate the problem.

more details of your machine, your OS version, whether you
have it up-to-date or how old it is, whether you modified
it etc. would be very helpful.

since a large number of people are using VMD successfully
on redhat linux machines it is more likely that the problem
is with your machine setup and not VMD...
