Hi,

I've installed both from binaries (RPM or tar.gz) and from source (full
compilation of VMD, plugins and supporting programs) VMD 1.8.5 but in all
cases I experienced problems with GLSL.
In particular, I installed the program on three different PC's, with the
following HW/SW configuration:

1) Toshiba laptop, P4 CPU, NVidia GeForce4 460 Go GPU, Fedora Core 6
(FC6), kernel 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6, NVidia driver 96.31 (the last supported
on that GPU)

2) Workstation 1, P4 CPU, NVidia Quadro FX3000 GPU, FC6, kernel
2.6.18-1.2798.fc6, NVidia driver 97.46

3) Workstation 2, P4 CPU, NVidia Quadro FX1400 GPU, FC6, kernel
2.6.19-1.2895.fc6, NVidia driver 97.46

In all cases problems related to GLSL are issued upon launching vmd:

1) Toshiba laptop:

The same outputs were obtained using either downloaded and in-home
compiled binaries.

However, a long-lasting problem with my Spaceball 4000FX is fixed, because
now it is fully recognized and active without any previous "acivation" of
the corresponding driver.
