Hi all,
I am trying to install the 1.8.3 version of VMD (1.84 version installation gave same result)on an VAIO laptop OS: Windows XP. The installation reports an error message "uninstaller setup failed initialize..." Installation is not disrupted, however, and the files are unzipped without a problem. The setup program works well until about 99% installation point when a MS shutdown error window opens with the following message: "Installer shield Engine has encountered a problem and needs to close" The error signature is as follows: AppName:_ins5176_mp AppVer:5.10.130.0 ModName:unknown, ModVer:0.0.0.0. Offset 00000000
VMD opens and most obvious functions are working except it is unable to read all of the data files. It does not produce a graphical representation of the system in the OpenGL display
It is not clear if the problem is in the InstallShield of the computer or some other setting in the computer. Disabling the Antivirus software did not solve the problem. I think the InstallShield crashed before all the VMD file could be properly installed.
Is there a workaround...ie manual unzip and installation?
