I assume you're using windows, right? If so, you just have to look for a file called vmd.rc in your vmd parent directory... Open it (with "edit") and add the following line

cd your_desired_directory (e.g., cd C:\vmd\my_files)

Save it and next time you open vmd it will automatically "place you" at the given directory. If you want to change it manually, just go to the VMD command line and move throughout the directories. If you're using linux, then you have to look for the file .vmdrc and add the line as above.

I hope it is clear and helpful,

Michel

Subject: vmd-l: default directory

Hi, all,

I am a new user of VMD. I have a simple question (maybe silly).
When VMD starts, its default directory is "C:", all output files
are saved in the derectory. I would like to change this parameter,
how to do this?

(I read the User's Guide, but didn't find answer.)

thanks

Anbang Li
