Hi,
  Do you have the .dat file that was produced during this session?
This is a very unusual sounding problem. I wonder if the Tachyon scene
file got truncated or otherwise corrupted in some way. If you can provide
a sequence of steps that reliably reproduces the problem, I should be
able to fix it. What version of VMD/Tachyon are you using?
