Preethi,
  Go get NVidia drivers from the NVidia web site, I assume they still
support the Riva128 chips with the newest drivers, and it ought to help
you cure your performance problem. A newer card would also be MUCH
faster (>= 20x for VMD) than a Riva128, but you're probably aware of
that already.
