Is STRIDE missing from your VMD installation? What do you see in
the VMD installation directory, e.g. 'ls -l /usr/local/lib/vmd'
If STRIDE is present, then there may be an issue with /tmp or /usr/tmp
which STRIDE would try to write to. Do both of those directories exist?
