Dear VMD-L,
  If any of you have Athlon64 or Opteron machines and would like
to help test out the first 64-bit builds of VMD for those platforms,
I have fresh binaries posted for download here:
  ftp://ftp.ks.uiuc.edu/pub/mdscope/vmd/alpha/

The file of interest is:
  vmd-1.8.3a5.bin.LINUXAMD64.opengl.tar.gz

If you download this test version, let us know how it works for you.
It was compiled on a machine running Suse 9.0, but I'm curious to hear
if the binary runs on other 64-bit x86_64 linux distributions.
