Hi,
  The potential values are actually what is stored in the original DX file.
So, if you want those values, just parse the DX file with your own code or
script and you should have what you need. For an Isosurface, as shown in
the VMD display, all of the points on the surface should have the same
isovalue, but the coloring of the surface shows areas where there's a
strong potential gradient. The volume slice representations just color
the slice plane by the potential values, so if you access the data in the
DX file, you'll have what you need.
