Unfortunately, still does not work :-(

I downloaded the 1.8.1 Linux OpenGL version
'./configure' and 'make install' went fine
Upon startup this version seems to die a little sooner.

With 1.8 I could briefly see a large black window and a small white window
with text in it.
With 1.8.1 I only see the small the small white window, and it is blank.
