I have never used vmd ... downloaded it today.

I am running RedHat 9 and I *not* have any 3D graphics hardware. So I
downloaded vmd 1.8 Linux Mesa

I *think* I have the right mesa packages installed:

[mth_at_hucho mth]$ rpm -qa | grep -i mesa
XFree86-Mesa-libGL-4.3.0-2
XFree86-Mesa-libGLU-4.3.0-2

The ./configure and make seemed to go fine.

When I launch vmd it opens a couple of windows, then immediately shuts
down ... it happens too quickly to see the messages in the console window.

I tried the -debug <n> command line switch, but it didn't help.

Is there a log file someplace?
