Hi,
  This has nothing to do with CUDA, as there's no CUDA code involved
in STRIDE secondary structure calculations, nor in the NewRibbons / NewCartoon
representations as implemented in VMD 1.9. I suspect a graphics driver
issue of some kind. As others have already said, we will need much more
information in order to help you track this down since it works fine for
other people.
