Dear Jos,
  Interesting. Can you try the VMD 1.8.1 beta 5 version I just posted
tongith and tell me if it behaves differently (better/same/worse) on
your machine than VMD 1.8 does? (uninstall VMD 1.8 prior to installing
the 1.8.1 test version..) I posted the new Windows test version here:
