Axel,
  The Tachyon version the does outline rendering is indeed available.
I've been keeping the matching Tachyon versions in sync the with the
VMD CVS and available for download for people that are doing their
own source compiles, it is here:
  http://jedi.ks.uiuc.edu/~johns/raytracer/
