Hi,
  I'm confused by part of the problem you're describing.
You mentioned that you don't have a "create new" button on your
Windows installation of VMD, can you tell me what version of
VMD you are running, and what buttons you see at the bottom
of the graphics form in your version? From there, I can help
you get new reps created.
