"Hands-on" Workshop on Cell Scale simulations at Urbana

Beckman Institute
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
July 18-20, 2018

The NIH Center for Macromolecular Modeling and Bioinformatics in association with the NSF Center for the Physics of Living Cells held a three-day workshop dedicated to Simulations of Bacterial and Eukaryotic Cells at the Beckman Institute in Urbana, IL. The 16 participants were introduced to fundamental theories and concepts behind cellular networks of genetic information processing and metabolism, multi-scale whole cell simulations and visualization (the latter using VMD). The hands-on computer laboratory sessions allowed participants to gain practical knowledge in using the design and simulation software. The morning lectures can be seen on the Center's Facebook page.
