Cristoph and others with new Intel based Macs,
I've got good news and so-so news. The good news is that I've
got full OpenGL features running on the Intel version of MacOS X,
including OpenGL programmable shading! So, the MacOS X Intel
builds of VMD 1.8.4 I release have great potential for both performance
and features.

The so-so news is that:
  - MacOS X 10.4.x on Intel still has 3-D texturing bugs

  - GLSL running on my Intel iMac test box gets software emulated by the
ATI x1600 card and current drivers, so it's quite slow currently,
appears to have a few rendering buglets still.
