In general, VMD is limited by the implementation of the host
operating system's libc stdio. Of all of the architectures,
Windows is presently the most limited, as it runs out of steam
on 2GB files. All of the Unix builds of VMD support the POSIX
large file extensions, so they should have no problems reading
multi-gigabyte files. What size files are you working with, and
which platform are you running on? If you're having problems
reading large files on Windows, I might be able to help you out.
