Hi,
  Yes, you can interface VMD to the various input devices which are
supported by VRPN: http://www.cs.unc.edu/Research/vrpn/
We use VRPN with a Sensable Phantom Desktop and Magellan Spacemouse
locally. We use Spaceballs with a built-in driver that I wrote also,
though they could also be used via VRPN.
