Luis,
  Have you actually run that MSMS binary by hand yet? It is possible
that the MSMS binary you have isn't executing for some reason (mismatched
shared library versions, or something, sometimes occurs). If you can run
it by hand succesfully, let me know and I'll help you figure out what's
going on there. Do you have "localhost" defined in your /etc/hosts file
on Linux? That's often the other thing that causes MSMS to fail.
