Hi,
  How are you starting VMD? Are you using the normal startup script, or
are you doing something else? The errors you're getting indicate that
the VMDDIR, TCL_LIBRARY, and TK_LIBRARY environment variables aren't getting
set correctly at startup, which is probably a result of running the VMD
binary in a nonstandard way. You can see how this is normally done by reading
the "vmd" startup script. If your Chromium setup is starting the VMD
executable directly, that would be the likely cause of the trouble.
  (i.e. directly executing vmd_LINUX without first setting variables...)
