Hi Vidhya,

I'm not sure how exactly to set it up on Ubuntu, but it should be similar
to how it's done on macOS. Try adapting the following steps to your OS:

   1. Learn the path to your VMD installation on your machine. On macOS,
you're looking for the file called

*startup.command*. The path to that file on my machine, which runs macOS
   11.6, is */Applications/VMD 1.9.4a55-arm64-Rev11.app/Contents/MacOS/*.
I'm sure it'll be something different for you.
   2. Go to */usr/local/bin/*.
   3. Create a file called *vmd*.
   4. Make the content of that file the following line:

   *"/Applications/VMD
   1.9.4a55-arm64-Rev11.app/Contents/MacOS/startup.command" $1 $2 $3 $4 $5 $6*.
Remember to change the path within the quotation marks to the path to the
   VMD installation on your machine.
   5. Save your *vmd* file.
   6. Make your *vmd* file executable by running: *chmod u+x vmd*.
   7. Typing *vmd* on any Terminal window/tab should start up VMD for you
   now.

I hope it helps! Please let me know if you need further clarification on
any of those steps.

All the best,
