Dallas,
  Send your VMD OpenGL startup messges, I'm curious to see what features
its finding on your FireGL X1, as I've got a 128MB FireGL X1 here that
never exhibited this particular problem, though I've been running an
older driver version due to bugs I've experienced with the newer ones.
