Yes, it does work in OS X 10.3.1 and later. You must first download and
install Java3D from Apple:

java3dandjavaadvancedimagingupdate.html>

After doing that, you should be able to run the demo JMV applet in
Safari at
<http://www.ks.uiuc.edu/Research/jmv/demo/jmv-0.85/JMV.html>
as well as downloading and running it as a standard application.
