It might depend on the flavor of linux that you have on your cluster and if you are trying to remotely display the vmd session from the cluster to another computer.

The network connection will slow any vmd session down even at 1gb connections.

Give us some more information about the cluster and how you are executing vmd on it.

Brian

Subject: vmd-l: linux issues

Hello,

I have installed vmd on a linux cluster [VMD for LINUXAMD64, version 1.9 (March 14, 2011)]. I load a psf file and then a dcd file. The process on windows laptop is several times faster than vmd on this linux cluster. Is this expected ?

Thank you,

Vivek
