Hi,
I haven't had a chance to try the new Tetra4D software yet personally,
but it should work. I believe they offer a limited time free trial option,
so that would be an easy way to check for yourself. I have been planning on
giving it a spin in the new few weeks, but I'm out of town until next week
so I haven't gotten to it yet. Eventually I'm planning on writing the
necessary code to make it possible to generate U3D files more directly
from VMD. U3D files can be pasted into PDF files with the latest versions
of Acrobat, so that would eventually eliminate the need for the Tetra4D
software since Adobe split up the Acrobat3D package. I don't have a time
frame for writing U3D files directly, so if you're in a hurry, I would
suggest going with Tetra4D, or trying the latest version of the free
MeshLab software to see if they're doing a better job with conversion
from Wavefront OBJ or other formats supported by VMD.

Cheers,
  John Stone
