Thanks for the quick reply, and sorry about the mailing list spam. I
tries to disable SE linux and rebooting, after which vmd-xplor is
working!

Are you running this on your local workstation? This portion usually
just works. Anyway, if you don't want the XPLOR window, you can specify
the -noxplor command line option and forget about it. If you do want the
XPLOR window, please send the output of

  echo $DISPLAY
  xauth list

and we'll figure it out.
